Make-A-Wish and the Findlay Honda Henderson grant Sofia’s wish

3.6 million babies are born each year in the United States. Of those babies 1% or about

40,000 children are born with congenital heart disease. Sofia is one of those children who is

fighting daily for her health. In the midst of her health journey, Sofia has wished to have a toy

car that she could drive. The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Findlay Automotive Group

worked together to turn Sofia’s wish into a reality. On Friday, April 29th, Sofia and her family

arrived at the Findlay Honda Henderson to have her wish granted.

           After a lot of hard work, the Findlay Honda Henderson team gathered to celebrate making

Sofia’s dream come true. Excitement filled the air in anticipation for Sofia, and her family.

Findlay Automotive’s CFO Tyler Corder was especially eager to show Sofia her new ride. Corder

said, “Findlay Automotive has granted quite a few wishes in recent years. Nothing warms my

heart more than to see a young person with a serious illness get their wish granted. It’s an extra

benefit that our employees love to get involved and help make the wish reveal a special

occasion. We appreciate our partnership with Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada and look forward

to continuing to make wishes come true.”

With both teams gathered together, they revealed a child-sized purple toy car perfectly

customized to fit Sofia’s dream. Riding in the passenger seat was the one and only Baby Yoda,

Sofia’s favorite character. Brittany Craig, CR/BDC manager of Findlay Honda Henderson, said,

“Granting Sofia’s wish is something I will never forget. From working with my team to decorate

and shop, to planning the details of the big reveal, it was perfect from start to finish. Just seeing

her smile and knowing she loved every moment was more than enough. I’m thankful to Findlay

Automotive Group for allowing me to give back to my community in such a meaningful and

joyful way.”

Granting this wish was something Tommy Rayl, General Manager of Findlay Honda

Henderson, found humbling. Rayl, said, “It makes you count your blessings and remember what

is really important – family. Sofia is such a bright soul, and it was really special to see her light up

and have a moment to smile, laugh, and have fun.” 

Every detail was exactly what Sofia wanted. The entire staff at Findlay Honda Henderson

knew the importance of making this happen. According to Make-A-Wish alumni, 87% say their

wish was a positive turning point in their treatment and gave them strength to fight their illness.

Rayl continued, “We were able to make her wish come true because it was a perfect fit for us;

cars are what Findlay does! My team jumped at the opportunity to assemble her toy car,

customize it, accessorize it, and decorate the dealership to make the reveal extra special.

Everything came together perfectly for her big day, and everyone here had a great time sharing

that with her.”
